The “Living Cookbook” & More

Hello. Welcome back. Good to see you. Wow. I hope all is well with you and yours. Amidst all the suffering this past year, there have been moments of great compassion and caring. For some, cooking was added to the rituals of the day, propelling us to nourish others, and in so doing nourished ourselves.  Hyperaware of time, we embraced new priorities. We discovered hidden reserves of resilience and creativity as we combed the depths of our unique “nature to nurture” impulses.

With the help of wunderkinds Evan Nisenson and Elena Mehlman, my website has been updated for your viewing, listening, and culinary pleasure. It contains “The Living Cookbook” with original recipes every week, so that in no time you will have assembled more than 75 recipes and photographs – a “living” collection that will continue to grow and grow.

Also on the site is Season 1 of “ONE WOMAN KITCHEN,” 54 episodes featuring the rising stars of the food world, to download at your leisure. As host of this new podcast, I revel in the intergenerational stories of the food world’s most inspiring women, and those who helped pave their way.  In and out of the kitchen, women are continuing to stir the pot, eager for self-discovery and self-expression.

There is a weekly BLOG that includes the work of chefs and poets who have inspired me; restaurant reviews, cooking tips, food & wine pairings, and books of poetry to recommend. And there are highlights -- menus, restaurants, boldface names, products, and ingredients that have fueled my 45-year career in New York’s food world, yes, but also on the world’s gastronomic scene writ large. For some, it will be a trip down memory lane, and for others it will be an introduction to the food revolution that began in the 1970s. There are hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles to read (I’ve written more than 600!), recipes from my five years as Bon Appetit’s “Entertaining Made Easy” columnist, TV clips and radio shows to enjoy, books to buy, and the opportunity to be in touch directly – for a mentoring hour, a consulting gig, or career advice.

There also will be a chance to share something that you love – an idea, a recipe, a restaurant suggestion, a cookbook, a poem, a metaphor, or a work of art.  The world is our oyster.
